In 1949, a reporter for approached the FBI and asked about writing a story about the "toughest guys" being sought by the FBI at the time. We provided the names and descriptions of 10 fugitives to the reporter. The resulting feature became a major story and gained national attention. As a consequence of overwhelming public interest, on March 14, 1950, then-Director J. Edgar Hoover inaugurated the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives program.
Mrs. Gerry’s Kitchen, Inc. of Albert Lea, MN has been notified by a supplier that a certain seasoning ingredient it supplied to Mrs. Gerry’s contains hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) that may be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The drawstrings on the neck and waist of the jacket can pose a strangulation or entrapment hazard to children.
The Securities and Exchange Commission is alerting investors about a Web site that falsely claims to have recovered $1.3 billion in funds hidden by convicted Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff in Malaysia. The site asks Madoff victims to submit information to verify that they are on a refund list ? a ploy commonly used by con artists to further rip off financial fraud victims.
