The Census Bureau is "Fact finder for the Nation" and is mandated with fulfilling the obligation of collecting statistics about the nation, its people, and economy.  The Bureau collects data about the people and economy of the United States and produces a wide variety of statistical data products including printed reports, statistical briefs, and computer files on tape and CD-ROM media. The Census Bureau provides data products, training, technical assistance, and consultation to data centers, which then offer products and assistance to local community leaders, planners, businesses, researchers, and the general public. The Bureau provides access to over 60,000 documents via its Web site including a wide array of economic and business data, broken down by industries and regions, including data on business patterns, leading economic indicators and statistics on levels of income, poverty and labor.


Homeownership Rate (HR)
The homeownership rate in the second quarter 2010 (66.9 percent) was lower than the second quarter 2009 rate (67.4 percent). In the South and West, the homeownership rates were lower than a year ago, while the Northeast and Midwest showed no significant change from corresponding second quarter 2009 rates.

Rental Vacancy Rate (RVR)
The rental vacancy rate in second quarter 2010 (10.6 percent) remained approximately the same as the second quarter 2009 rate (also 10.6 percent).

Homeowner Vacancy Rate (HVR)
The homeowner vacancy rate in second quarter 2010 (2.5 percent) remained approximately the same as the second quarter 2009 rate (also 2.5 percent).

The Nation's international trade deficit in goods and services increased to $42.3 billion in May 2010 from $40.3 billion (revised) in April, as imports increased more than exports.
